Features of Fauna
Save Anything, From Anywhere
Images, RAW photos, Photoshop and Illustrator files, video, audio, PDFs, bookmarks and notes all live side by side in one grid, sorted the way you think about them rather than the way a folder does.
Send things in from Chrome or Safari, from the browser built into Fauna, from your iPhone, or from the Eagle library you already have.

Chrome and Safari Extensions
Right-click any image or video on the web and send it straight into a collection, without leaving the page you are on.
Built-in Browser
A full browser tied to each library. Keep sites open as tabs and save straight into your grid.
Visual Bookmarks
Paste a URL and it becomes a picture, sitting in the grid beside everything it belongs with.
Notes and Writing
Write in Fauna's own editor. Notes sit in the grid as thumbnails, beside the images they are about.
Bring Your Eagle Library
Connect the library you already have and pick up where you left off. Nothing to rebuild or re-tag.
RAW Import
RAW photos preview instantly. Fauna builds light thumbnails, so the grid stays fast however heavy the files.
Video and Animation
GIFs and video play in the grid. Hover to play, click to open, swipe through the rest.

Every Way Back to an Idea
Describe it, pick a colour, follow a mood, or let chance decide. None of them need you to have filed anything first.
All of them run on your Mac, against your own library, and work offline. Nothing is uploaded to find a match.

Seven Ways to Find it
- Same FaunaSelect one picture and everything that shares its mood, its look and its light comes forward. Pick one of those and it does it again.
- Search by Describing itType what you remember, like a quiet mountain under snow. Objects, colours, styles and the text inside images.
- HabitatsEverything sorted into categories like Photography and Architecture, automatically, and deeper inside each.
- Colour SearchTurn the colour globe to any hue and the whole library answers with that one colour.
- Smart PalettesEvery picture's colours, read the way the eye sees difference and put in their most even order.
- AI Tag SuggestionsTags written for everything you save. Click one and the grid becomes everything that matches.
- Random GridReshuffle the grid to stumble back onto things you saved long ago, without losing your sort order.
A Board That Suggests What Comes Next
Canvas is a free board wired to your library. Drop assets in, group them, stack them, arrange them however the idea wants to be arranged.
Select something on the board and Fauna offers visually similar images from your library, so the board grows as you think rather than after.

Or Just go Wandering
Galaxy scatters your whole library into clusters of colour and light, grouped by how things look rather than by when you saved them. Zoom in and a dot of colour resolves into the image it came from. It is not the fastest way to find anything, and that is the point.
Travel through it in dark or light, whichever suits the room you are in.
Ways to Look at it
The grid is where you live, and it bends to how you want to look today.
Gallery View
Open any picture large, then move through your library one at a time with nothing else on screen.
Zen Mode
One key hides the sidebars and gives the whole window to the grid. Move to an edge and they come back.
Themes and Customisation
Waterfall, justified or classic grids, thumbnail size, corners, light or dark. Make it look like yours.
Your Library, on Your iPhone
The iPhone app shows your library wherever you are and lets you add pictures straight from your camera roll. Use it on its own, or connect it to your Mac.
Sync is off until you turn it on, and you choose which libraries go. They travel through your own iCloud or Google Drive, under your own account, and there is no Fauna server anywhere in between.
Your Mac
Holds the library and does all the thinking: tagging, search and Same Fauna.
Your iCloud or Google Drive
Carries only the libraries you choose, in an account you already own.
Your iPhone
Browse what you synced, and add from your camera roll on the go.
None of That Touched a Server
Your ideas, safe on your Mac.
Every search, every match, every tag you have just read about happens on your own machine. Fauna's intelligence is local. No cloud AI ever sees your library, nothing is used to train anything, and none of it needs the internet.
Sync is off until you turn it on, and it is selective: pick the libraries you want on your phone and leave the rest on your Mac. What you do sync lands in your own iCloud or Google Drive. It never passes through a Fauna server.

Where Everything Happens
- Search, tagging, Habitats and Same Fauna
- On your Mac, online or offline.
- Your library
- Wherever you keep it. Never on our servers.
- Sync
- Off until you turn it on. Only the libraries you choose, through your own iCloud or Google Drive.
- Sign-in
- Never. The app does not ask you to sign in, to try it or to use it.
- Trial
- Starts the first time you open Fauna, which registers this Mac with our licence server by its name and a hardware identifier.
- Licence
- Linked to your email when you buy, activated from a link we send you, and checked again every so often. Offline, Fauna keeps working for up to 14 days.
- Updates
- The app checks for new versions. Nothing from your library goes with it.
- Search models
- Fetched once after you install. Nothing about you goes with it.
- Crash reports
- Off until you turn them on in Settings.
- Feedback
- Only when you choose to send it from inside the app.
Make it yours. The small things that decide whether an app fits the way you already work.
Collections. Drag anything in, nest what belongs together, and reorder by hand when the order is the point.
Multiple libraries. One app, many workspaces. Switch with a click to change worlds without mixing them together.
Favourites and ratings. Star what matters or rate it one to five, then sort by those marks to surface your strongest work.
Notes on anything. Write in Fauna directly, or attach a note to any asset so you remember why you saved it.
Endlessly customisable. Spacing, corners, grid style, light or dark. Make it look like yours.
Local-first, store anywhere. Internal disk, external drive, iCloud or Google Drive. Your library goes where you want it.
Export anything. Send whole collections or single assets back to your Mac, neatly organised for whatever tool comes next.
Fully native. Built on Apple's own frameworks, so it speaks the rest of your Mac fluently.
